Sorrow, a small kingdom near the Southwest of the continent, is ruled by Scheer, its king, he had a fortune to spare, Sorrow was the richest kingdom in the continent, so its king should be the happiest person alive, right? You see, there's one thing Scheer couldn't get with his mountains of gold: Love.
He knew that everybody near him wanted just his fortune, without seeing him as a person with feelings. He never left his kingdom down, not a single person there was poor nor overworking (Writer's postcomentary: As long as he knew about this person's situation, 05/01/2023) and he even helped with some chores, but no one loved him, or so he thought.
When he gave his speech about his lack of love, everybody mocked him, he's so rich, what could he possibly want more? Tired of not being understood, he gave his crown to a challenge: If you think you can be happy as a king, then prove me, be a king for one day. (Writer's postcomentary: The tyrant one-day-kings that assumed and caused suffering and pain to the people were persecuted, damned and even killed, some times, so they indeed couldn't be happy as a king, but his challenge was more like: "Whoever can be a better king and also feel happy or at least not get disappointed", yet he expressed hiself with this exact words, which came to bite him back in some cases, 05/01/2023)
Every person in that kingdom was willing to take that challenge, except for the people from the Church of Benevolence, those were the carrying people that always helped the people in need, giving everything to save lives.
One by one, they had their free trial as a king or queen, they formed a pattern of disappointment, disrespect and lack of faith in the people, seeing their friends, family members, wife, husband, siblings and so on doing everything for their money, then throwing them away once they weren't kings or queens anymore, then they understood how nobody cared about them, but rather their money, some even became ruthless dictators, quickly showing the people how their true king was good and generous, some were experiencing hunger for the first time.
At last, hundreds of friendships were undone, families turned to dust, marriages broken and hate unfurled, so at last, the king returns to E1 (Writer's postcomentary: Not only a chess move reference but also about the last official classic chess match played by Mikhail Tal, 05/01/2023), his speech was simple: "So, what have you all won as a king? Was it fun?". The silence was the loudest voice to answer, their perplexity towards their situation was stronger than their will to prove themselves right, so the silence grew, echoing through the 27 kingdoms in the continent.
At last, Erika, from the comission sent as part of the Church of Benevolence, congratulated the king for his actions and invited him to join, he cordially denied, as he had different religious perceptions from that of the church. Erika replied to him, saying that any belief was welcome, they woulnd't try to convert anyone, as it goes against their religion to force someone to be part of them, against their definition of freedom.
The king finally accepted and went to their group, still being a king outside, but there he was just a man, truefully treated as such.
There he found friends and finally a wife, it doesn't matter what happens next, isn't this what you want?

Writer's postcomentary: As for now, this is a sinopsis of a full story that I am willing to write named "The king of Sorrow", the continent has 27 kingdoms, Sorrow is one of them, each one represents a strong feeling, normally a bad one, as if they were the reason why this word is used nowdays with its true meaning, I already thought superficially on the kingdoms of Greed, Envy and Rage, but I don't think I would write a full book about each, maybe writting them as chapters from a book with the story behind them. The kingdom of Sorrow however has a rich enough story to become a book, fully dedicated to its intricated details and how each person tried to be a king for one day.
The kingdom of Hate has destroyed the kingdom of Love, leaving them broken after the siege, the next target is the kingdom of Respect, which forms a coalition with the kingdom of Love, I'm still trying to elaborate on this story because maybe this will be the next tale.
